Dear Friends,

We are still rejoicing over how many of YOU helped Healing Hearts for Community Development have the most donors on Give Nola Day 2015 and win the $10,000 prize.

As Carissa Mitchell relays in this video, HHCD is planning to purchase a van to transport our clients who are homeless or re entering our community from being incarcerated to their treatment groups and counseling appointments. This will have such a tremendous impact on their long-term recovery. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

We had a great time at our Cinco de Mayo Party in Club 56 of Celebration Church as we watched the clock tick down to 11:59 p.m. and HHCD staying in first place.

As the school year draws to a close, we would like to thank the Jefferson Parish Public School System’s School Based Health Centers for giving our counselors the opportunity to work in the centers for the past three (3) years. It has been an amazing blessing and we hope to continue our relationship in the future.

It is also exciting to report that the HHCD Prevention Staff has reached over 1,100 students with the Too Good for Drugs and Life Skills Training lessons in both public and private schools in Orleans and Jefferson Parishes.

Praying that you and your families have a wonderful and restful summer.

Dear Friends,

As we mentioned in our May newsletter, Healing Hearts for Community Development was planning to purchase a passenger van with the funds we received from Give Nola Day 2015. Praise God. He blessed us with a wonderful van at a great price.
See picture below.

HHCD Has a New VanThe Celebration Hope Center Addictions Team will use this van to transport their clients to their substance abuse treatment groups and to their individual counseling sessions. Many of these clients are reentering society after incarceration and find themselves homeless with no means of transportation.

June brings us to the end of the 2014-15 fiscal year praising God for the work He has allowed us to do and for the numerous avenues of funding He has provided. As we look ahead into the 2015-16 fiscal year, we have already been blessed with several commitments of funding, including a renewal of the $120,000 contract with Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority to provide outpatient substance abuse treatment, and a $12,500 grant from the Louisiana Children’s Trust Fund to continue presenting the Darkness to Light Program to protect our community’s children from sexual abuse.

HHCD/CHC will also be expanding the behavioral health services provided at the Baptist Community Health System’s Clinic in the Lower 9th Ward. What a blessing to have a presence in this neighborhood which still struggles 10 years after Katrina. We have also received a 16.75% increase in our United Way funding.

Thank you so much for your continued support and prayer.
