HHCD Has a New Van
Dear Friends, treat
As we mentioned in our May newsletter, Healing Hearts for Community Development was planning to purchase a passenger van with the funds we received from Give Nola Day 2015. Praise God. He blessed us with a wonderful van at a great price.
See picture below.
The Celebration Hope Center Addictions Team will use this van to transport their clients to their substance abuse treatment groups and to their individual counseling sessions. Many of these clients are reentering society after incarceration and find themselves homeless with no means of transportation.
June brings us to the end of the 2014-15 fiscal year praising God for the work He has allowed us to do and for the numerous avenues of funding He has provided. As we look ahead into the 2015-16 fiscal year, we have already been blessed with several commitments of funding, including a renewal of the $120,000 contract with Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority to provide outpatient substance abuse treatment, and a $12,500 grant from the Louisiana Children’s Trust Fund to continue presenting the Darkness to Light Program to protect our community’s children from sexual abuse.
HHCD/CHC will also be expanding the behavioral health services provided at the Baptist Community Health System’s Clinic in the Lower 9th Ward. What a blessing to have a presence in this neighborhood which still struggles 10 years after Katrina. We have also received a 16.75% increase in our United Way funding.
Thank you so much for your continued support and prayer.
In His Service,
Freddie G. Landry. M.Ed., LPP
July is the month that we celebrate the freedoms that we enjoy in our great nation. It reminds me to thank God for allowing HHCD and the Hope Center to help so many people to gain freedom from their addictions, sexual abuse, and other life hurts.
As we move into a new fiscal year with the challenges of purchasing and implementing the Dr. Cloud Electronic Health Records, we want to thank Rena Smith for the seven plus years she has poured into the Hope Center’s Addiction Team to prepare them for the coming years and the clients they will serve.
HHCD is at the forefront of the SAMHSA-supported Behavioral Health Alliance of Faith-Based and Community Organizations for the Greater New Orleans region. If you are a Clergy person realizing that people in your congregation need help to overcome addictions and/or mental health issues, please join us on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Hope Center as we move forward with this endeavor to reach and help the hurting people in our region.
We are also very excited to announce that Sandy Schule is the new Event Coordinator for the 2015 Jazzy Night Gala to be held on Friday, November 6, 2015. If you would like to join the Gala Committee there is a place for you! Please contact Sandy at 504-512-1268 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Praying for God to bless you and your families.
In His Service,
Freddie G. Landry, M.Ed., LPP
